West Coast Counselling

West Coast Counselling

While visiting a remote community on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, I came across this intriguing concept. This phone booth confessional adds a whole new dimension to tele-counselling!

There are many unique resources through which we might find reprieve and comfort--a walk on the beach, coffee with a friend, creating art, playing music, etc. Whether it be through solitary outlets or relational encounters, it can be very helpful to find opportunities that allow us to acknowledge the sometimes unhelpful narratives we reluctantly shoulder. Finding a way to internally or externally voice the stories influencing our experiences of self, or our engagment in the world around us, can be both therapeutic and transformational!

Celebrating Relationships

The predictable sunshine of late summer weekends, makes August a popular month for weddings. As a result, many people celebrate summer anniversaries. From the initial day of saying "I do" throughout the months and years following, most will acknowledge how hard work, dedication, patience, and courage have contributed to the health of the relationship. It is important that we celebrate special occasions in a relationship, such as anniversaries, and honour these years of working, striving, and loving together.

As we move into the week, we invite you to reflect on a special relationship--an important loved one in your life. Thinking back to your earliest hopes for this relationship, describe the high point moment when you realized this person was exceptional. What were you doing? What stands out for you?

What do you value most about this important person? What are the qualities that make this person who he/she is? What is your greatest hope for your relationship, as you enter the next phase of being together, or moved forward throughout the next year?
